Setting up your Wellness Hub TV Control Functions
The Wellness Hub provides and enhanced feature that simplifies the process of switching TV inputs when receiving a call, notification, or other event that may result in a temporary interruption of the user's TV watching experience. Configuring the system requires the installer to previously identify the following:
- What is the user's preferred TV source
- Determine if there is an available HDMI input port available in the TV
Verify if the TV brand/model supports CEC (See link to CEC detailed information)
Preferred Source Setup Configurations:
HDMI-Input (Best)
The best user experience is achieved when the preferred source is an HDMI device connected to the input of the Wellness Hub. This configuration would be used in cases where the preferred TV source is a cable, satellite box, or streamer device such as a ChromeCast, AppleTV, FireStick, or other.
This configuration is superior to all others because it allows the Wellness Hub to provide on screen notifications without completely disrupting the user's TV watching activity. The user will have the option to view the notification and take action without the need to switch TV inputs.
Using the Wellness Hub's HDMI-Input is also the easiest to configure. The Wellness Hub will detect and confirm if there is a connected HDMI device to the input port. That is all! The following screen will be presented once the HDMI-Input device is detected and configured.
Note: Using the TV's HDMI-1 input is preferred but not absolutely necessary.
Other HDMI Input (Good)
This configuration does not provide the benefit of the notification messages being visible while watching the preferred TV source, but can be an optimal configuration when the TV itself supports CEC.
This configuration allows the Wellness Hub to both switch inputs and return the user to the preferred TV source using the Wellness Hub's Remote Control Unit or thru the menu options.
Antenna/Cable Input or Smart TV's (Good)
Some users may still rely on an RF connection to receive the TV channels from an antenna or cable device. This configuration is also used for Smart TV's that provide live television or streaming services directly via on screen applications.
The configuration process is similar to that of another HDMI input. The user must maintain a line the Wellness Hub RCU has a direct line of sight to the TV when the 'TV' button is pressed or the 'TV' menu option is selected.
What should I do if the 'TV' button does not switch to the preferred during the verification step?
Please go ahead and select the 'Yes' option but let the HomeSight support team if the TV button fails to return the user back to their preferred TV source.
What should I do if the 'TV' button returns the user back to the TV 'Apps' or 'Home Screen'?
Smart TVs will process the 'TV Tuner' command in different ways. The 'TV' button will often return the user back to the Smart TV screen but TVs behave differently and may not return to the previous application in use.
- Google TV devices will may return the user to an 'Apps Selection Menu'
- Samsung TV devices will take the user to the 'Samsung TV Plus' streaming when enabled
- LG TV device will take the user back to the Home Screen
