Please read the Rules and Alerts - HomeSight Intended Use Statement before configuring any rules.
Rules are created, modified and deleted in the care portal.
To configure rules in the care portal:
- Log into the Care Portal.
- Select and click on an account from the Accounts list.
- On the navigation bar, click on Rules.
- The rules dashboard will be displayed. All rules that have been created will be displayed..
- To create a new rule, click on Add Rule.
- The rule configuration form will be displayed. All of the rule configuration is done in this form.
- Give the rule a meaningful and descriptive name. This will be displayed in the Alerts tab and in the Alert tile that is shown on the account dashboard.
- Choose a category for the rule. The category is displayed in the Alert tile if a rule is triggered.
Options that are available:
- Motion
- Biometric*
- Smart Home
* Biometric rules are currently only available in the United States. Biometric rules will be rolled out to other countries in the future.
- Configure the rule condition. This section sets the logic for the rule to trigger.

Select the condition type. The condition that can be configured will depend on the biometric and smart home devices that are connected to the wellness hub. Motion is always available as that uses the motion detection capability of the wellness hub.
Examples of condition types:
- Motion
- Indoor Temperature
- Contact Sensor
- Ambient Light
- Indoor Humidity
- Select device. Only devices that have attributes that match the condition type will be displayed. For example, if the condition type is set to Motion, only devices that can detect motion will be displayed.
- Configure the condition that will trigger the rule.
Conditions will depend on the condition type that was selected. Examples of conditions:
- Indoor Temperature : Greater than or less than a specified temperature.
- Motions : Equals some motion or no motion detected.
- Contact Sensor : Equals open or closed.
- Indoor Humidity : Greater than or less than a specified humidity.
- Ambient Light : Greater than or less than specified light level.
- If you want a rule to contain multiple conditions, click on Add Condition. If more than one condition has been configured in a rule, all of the conditions must be triggered before n alert in generated.
An additional condition has been added to the rule. Configure this condition in exactly the same way as the first condition.
- Select the day or days of the week that the rule is active.
Click on the individual days to select or deselect the days that a rule is active. Dark blue circle indicates the rule is active on that day. A light blue circle indicates the rule is inactive on that day.
- Set the start time. Set the time that the rule is active from.
- Set the end time. Set the time that the rule will become inactive. If the end time is past midnight
- When you are happy with the rule that you have configured, click on Save to save the rule.
If you don't want to save the rule, click on Cancel and the rule will be discarded.
